Actor Samuel French Dies At 45 After Battle With Cancer

A talented and dedicated soul has been lost in Hollywood. Killers of the Flower Moon actor Samuel French has died after a long battle with cancer aged 45. Samuel French, the actor who played a thrilling role at Killers of the Flower Moon, has now passed on aged 45 after he battled cancer.

French, who starred alongside industry greats such as Robert De Niro in Martin Scorsese's highly-anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon, died on May 10. His death was announced by his longtime friend and collaborator Paul Sinacore, who said that French had spent his final year trying to fight back a cancer that engulfed his body.

Though his filmography was not extensive, French left a lasting impression onscreen. Every time he performed, he brought a fierce authenticity that made him stand out even in movies crowded with Hollywood heavyweights. In Killers of the Flower Moon, he not only worked alongside a lineup of some of the most celebrated names in cinema but again proved to be more than just a supporting character but a presence whose work touched audiences and the people around him.

Outside of that award-winning film, it looked like French was going to see something of a career boost from the forthcoming indie film Towpath, helmed by Sinacore. While the film remains unavailable, the early responses from those involved made it apparent that French's performance was extraordinary. "Samuel was a dear friend and an incredible actor," Paul said touchingly. "Towpath wouldn't exist without him, and the incredible intensity he brought to the role of Det. Bernard Crooke set the tone for the entire film. Together we were on an extraordinary journey, giving everything we had to realize a shared creative vision."

The tribute described French as an artist and a human being. "Samuel carried a fire for acting that burned in every frame, unfiltered, fearless, and alive. He gave himself completely to the work, and it showed. I am deeply saddened by his loss and only wish he could have seen the final cut. He was one of a kind, and he will remain in our hearts forever."

Faced with that, French determined to select scripts with that sort of depth in each role he was given. His performances were not superficial. They were muscular, emotionally exposed, and multi-textured. Those who worked with him say he is deeply dedicated to his craft, always throwing himself fully into his characters and the stories that they are telling.

His death has reverberated throughout the acting community, particularly within the indie film scene, where French had established himself as a hot name. He was beloved for his collaborative spirit, unflappable devotion, and willingness to bring the best out of every task he touched.

As the industry and his fans mourn his loss, they will also think about Towpath, a movie that will now be both a memorial and a final testament to Samuel French's tremendous talent. Samuel French was only 45 but left a legacy of bravery, artistry, and indelible screen presence. Although he was with us far too briefly, his influence still ripples through not only every work of his but also every life he touched onscreen and off and every story he helped to tell with intense passion and great purpose. Samuel French is gone, but his fire still rages on screen and in the hearts of people who knew him.
