DDG Says Halle Bailey Is A 'Psychological Risk' To Halo In Court Filing

In a new, jaw-dropping chapter in the ongoing child custody battle of rapper DDG and Actress-singer Halle Bailey, court papers disclose shocking, profoundly personal, and damaging allegations expected to impact legal proceedings moving forward. The rapper-turned-reality star, born Daryl Dwayne Granberry, Jr., filed docs for an emergency petition requesting that the court deny the jumped-up TV star's request to travel with their 17-month-old son, Halo to Australia and/or other far away cleaning corners of the world. The Little Mermaid star presents what DDG describes as a "serious psychological risk" to herself, as well as to the couple's little one.

The motion is part of a broader fight over co-parenting agreements after the two had a stormy three-year romance. In his submission to the court, DDG describes an erratic and controlling boy, who he says threatened self-harm throughout their relationship. He accuses this pattern of behavior having progressively increased during her pregnancy in 2023, mentioning an episode in which Halle purportedly demanded a reconciliation, threatening to abort the pregnancy unless her terms were met.

Halle also threatened his life once in a mind-numbing event, where she reportedly snatched his legal firearm and fled the house without notifying anyone of what she was doing or where she was going. He described this as a direct threat to her personally and, hence, to their foetus at the time. These actions, he said, demonstrate a "pattern of emotional coercion and manipulation" that makes traveling internationally with Halo especially onerous, such as a two-month foray to Italy for work, an "unacceptable" risk.

The rapper's filing is not limited to challenging the travel orders. He is also asking the court to grant him sole legal and physical custody of Halo because of multiple alleged situations of stalking and verbal and physical abuse. Instead, he suggested a closely monitored schedule where he and Bailey would share custody of the baby in short shifts during visitations.

Though neither DDG nor Halle Bailey has responded publicly to the court filings, the charges add more emotional charge to what is already a tangled case. As public figures, their custody and mental health struggles are playing out in the spotlight, highlighting a struggle familiar to many separated parents when trust and safety are lacking.

In a time when celebrity relationships are the stuff of romanticized dreams, this legal drama opens an unvarnished window through which to see the emotional undermining that infidelity can cause in the real world for parents and children, whether famous or not. Regardless of whether DDG's allegations prove true in court, they undeniably have the power to shape public opinion and to ask hard questions about mental health, parental fitness, and child safety in times of high-conflict breakup. This case is a long way from over, but with court documents revealing the starkness of each side's claims, the battle for young Halo's future is about to enter its most intensely fought arena.
