The mom-of-three from the hit reality TV show, popular for her intense love for her children and her hot-headed behavior on camera, is now showing her fighting nature once again after yet another medical battle.
The news was announced in a candid TikTok video on June 24 by Kelly's daughter, Brooke Hyland, a familiar face to those long-time fans of Dance Moms. Kelly, 54, who was only a couple of months out of her second series of breast cancer treatments, has been told by doctors that she needs life-saving open heart surgery to repair a "leaking" heart valve.
"You guys all watched her finish up her chemo and all of her breast cancer-related things," Brooke noted. "Unfortunately, right after that, she got news that she needs to get open heart surgery." Her voice wavered as she described how, suddenly, a feeling of victory turned to one of uncertainty, a family bracing itself once more for impact.

Doctors are experimenting with various surgical techniques in the hope of performing the operation robotically. But if the robotic version of the procedure doesn't work, her mother will be back to complete open heart surgery, a much more invasive and difficult path. "Terrifying," Brooke admitted. "Her heart is currently leaking."
Kelly, who is also mother to children Brooke, Josh, and Paige, with ex-husband Randy Hyland, has always been a shining example of maternal strength.
