Body positive influencer Hannah Carnat-Gronnerud is in mourning after her fiancé, Ian de Metz, died in a work-related accident just six weeks before they were due to tie the knot. Hannah announced the tragic news on her Instagram on July 20, tweeting that Ian "was a true hero in every sense of the word" and that she would miss him more than she could ever put into words.
A close friend, Natalie Berard, confirmed Ian's untimely passing in a post on July 20, also on Hannah's Instagram. "Ian was tragically killed in a work accident," the post read, thanking people for an "outpouring of support and love" coming from followers and friends alike. "Hannah and Ian's families appreciate you all and your support during this tragedy. We are continuing to surround them with love and ask you for your thoughts and prayers."

This is Hannah, who has inspired thousands for a very long time here on Facebook, not just about body love & acceptance, really encouraging me daily. Only weeks ago, on June 24, she giddily posted a countdown on Instagram: "68 days until I marry my baby!!" The excitement turned to unimaginable grief. It was on July 22 that Hannah opened up, sharing a touching message via her Instagram Stories. "I don't have anything to give right now, but I must say thank you," she wrote. "I am in complete awe at the love so many of you feel between Ian and I. Thank you all for your messages."
Her words reflect a sentiment many of us share that our lives can be altered in the blink of an eye. In the future, the world was wide with possibilities for Hannah and Ian. From wedding plans to shared escapades, their story was playing out so publicly, so joyfully. Now, that story has been rewritten by death. As the tributes continue to roll in, the community that followed their love story is coming together to support Hannah with support and empathy. In these dark times, online support can serve as a lifeline, and Hannah, broken-hearted, finds herself profoundly touched by the kindness she's been shown. Although the wedding day that never was, Hannah and Ian's love is clear. It's a reminder that even in the face of sorrow, the relationships we create and the love we form leave an indelible mark.
