Madelyn Cline has made it known that she's no longer interested in engaging with social media talk about her weight. The 27-year-old actress admitted in a candid interview with Allure that she's tired of everyone simpering about her appearance, saying that what annoys her is that everyone is "obsessed" with her body.
"It's very bizarre to me, how people love to pay attention to weight specifically," Cline said, noting that social media regularly fixates on this aspect of her appearance. Now, while she is cognizant of an insatiable public appetite for gossip, she eschews the chatter as so much of the noise that radiates from celebrity. Over the years, Cline's weight has fluctuated for various reasons, including life changes, stress, relationships, and changes in her diet. Her physical evolution from season to season on Outer Banks is also, she said, an evolution of life.

Though she's heedless of what anyone else in the wider world thinks, Cline knows the pressure of being a performer. "The camera picks up everything," she said, acknowledging that there are times she becomes frustrated with the scrutiny. Whether you're on your period or had a drink the night before a shot, every detail of your life is available for fans and critics to comment on.
She also expressed a sad truth about the online world, "In the comment sections, we are not always family." The profound truth of Cline's remark can be drawn from the fact that online communities often lose sight of the fact that there's flesh and blood behind the screen. She emphasized that, like anyone, she has highs and lows, and she doesn't escape life's ebb and flow. For Cline, it's apparent that her value does not depend on what people on the internet are saying. And even though the spotlight will doubtlessly never dim, she's making the decision to focus on living her life unbound by how other people think she should be living it.
