Pokémon Voice Actor James Carter Cathcart Dies At Age 71

Cathcart, who succumbed on September 16 at the young age of 71, was known for diverse voice work, legendary ones as Meowth, James, and Professor Oak, to name just a few.

His wife, Martha Jacobi, broke the news to fans in a message in a Facebook fan group on July 10. She said James died peacefully early Tuesday morning at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, New York. "The funeral will be in early August, In New York," Jacobi wrote, "Memorial designations are still in process, pending conversations with one of the charities that was close to Jimmy's heart."

Cathcart's distinctive voice would go on to lend a voice to Pokémon, taking over the throne of a much-loved character and instilling a love for the well-known franchise in the hearts of millions worldwide.
