Sophie Turner Says "Game of Thrones" Was Her Sex Education Class

Sophie Turner doesn't hesitate at the opportunity to give "Game of Thrones" thanks for more than just jumpstarting her career for the record, she also believes the show was something of an unconventional sex ed class.

During a recent appearance on the Dish podcast alongside hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, the Game of Thrones actress quipped that she didn't learn about the birds and the bees in a classroom instead, she learned on the set of the hit fantasy series. "I definitely got my sex education from that show," Turner said with a laugh. "More than enough." Turner was only 14 when she was cast as Sansa Stark and quickly immersed in a world of boundary-pushing content everyone from the power-mad and Machiavellian, to the deeply controversial and often explicit.

Those stories not only prompted a global debate but also provided Turner with a real-time education in adult themes she'd not previously confronted. With no formal training in acting before her breakout role, she told the NYT that the show was "It was the best acting class I’ve ever had." " never had proper formal training, so I got to learn from the amazing actors around me," Turner says. " I felt like I won a competition. It was great, we all were a family."
