Tori Spelling Reveals Bedroom Roleplay As Donna Martin Character Is Ex-Husband Dean McDermott Ultimate Fantasy
In an intimate, nostalgic confession, Beverly Hills, 90210 actress Tori Spelling recounts a steamy bedroom experience that resurrected her infamous on-screen persona, Donna Martin, albeit in the bedroom, not on camera. On the July 14 episode of her MisSpelling podcast, the actress, 46, said that when she was married to Dean McDermott, her estranged husband of 18 years, she fulfilled a fantasy of his that dated back to his bachelor days.
Long before they had ever met, McDermott was a 90210 fanboy, watching the show religiously and lusting after Tori. "Dean, my ex, when we met, he was telling me that he had a big crush on me," Spelling said. "He would always have his hockey game with all his buddies on Wednesday night, and he would always get out of there early. They'd be in the locker room, 'You gotta go home and see your girlfriend.'" "He was like, 'Yeah, no shame. I'm a guy watching 90210 and I have a crush on Tori Spelling."

Dean's crush on her character even bled into their own love story, according to Tori. Eventually, she made a split-second decision to shock him by reverting to her old self, Donna Martin, the innocent yet somewhat naive high school girl she had portrayed on the '90s cult-favorite teen drama. The couple separated for good in 2023, but during their nearly two-decade relationship, there were highs, lows, and apparently a few creatively flirty ones. For Tori, the revelation was both humorous and validating, a reminder that our former selves sometimes never entirely disappear, particularly when that former self becomes part of pop culture lore.
As for Dean, he may have been living the teen fan fantasy that so many long for, evidence, perhaps, that for some, teen crushes do in fact lead to very real adult experiences. Tori's idiosyncratic ability to burst forth with cool-innuendo-laced storytelling once again solidifies that she's not afraid to be the owner of her own story, even if it warps the line between fiction and reality.
