Street Beat Brass capture desert motion and memory in "Out West"

Street Beat Brass returns with an exciting new jazz track, "Out West," which was inspired by a family trip through the American Southwest. A wide-open image of the desert's unrelenting beauty, untamed, unspoiled strength, and everlasting reach is created with the song.

The framework fuses the brass-based New Orleans tradition with understated Latin rhythms, resulting in a pulsation somewhere between grounded and liberated. Every texture is crafted, from the sand shaker that gives a dry, shifting feel to the tambourine in the intro, which suggests rattlesnakes farther away.

The music develops into a journey rather than a performance as the track deepens. The brass sections swell and recede like the desert winds, the rhythm never ceases to move. An instance of memory is present in the track "Out West," a narrative characteristic of jazz, and in the band's conversion of autobiography into sound. It leaves an impression that shows the breadth of the landscape and the pull between traveling and being as a family.
