Laura McCullough leads Goddamn Wolves into new territory with “Rule of Three”

Laura McCullough
shines in “Rule of Three,” the latest single from Raleigh indie rockers Goddamn Wolves. McCullough is back on lead vocal and songwriting duties for a fourth time and adds a distinctive touch to a track that feels playful, mysterious and just a little dangerous.

The tune begins with the whole band at work, with guitar, drums, and bass offering a lively base. Daggers, vampire hunters, werewolves, and devils are the source of the music's imagery, giving it a darkly imaginative edge that shows the band's talent for turning the chaos around them into something sharp and catchy.

The track is driven by Drew Foglia’s confident, versatile drumming and Jon Trexler expanding the guitar landscape set down by Chris Weilding. McCullough’s voice adds personality to the arrangement, with instrumentation swelling around it to keep the storytelling at the core.

An enjoyable surprise at the end, with an unexpected guitar turn and a striking solo from Chris Weilding. Ultimately, the “Rule of Three” captures a band at home in its darker imagination, still growing through new voices and creative directions.
