Youth Valley opened "sunday oh monday" with a dark mood, showing a darker side of the band's sound. The track is the third single from their upcoming sophomore album and sees the band move away from their shoegaze roots into darkwave and post-punk territory.

Joseph Powell's vocals carry the emotional weight but are delivered in a restrained manner that suits the song's darker nature. Layered rhythm from George V, Dean Jola, Aki Rei, and Alex Bolpasis adds to the feeling of unease. Recorded and mixed by Alex Bolpasis at Suono Studio and produced by Bolpasis and Powell, the track maintains a carefully crafted atmosphere.
