"Blindfolded" by Big O and Benny Canales travel from isolation to freedom through cinematic hip-hop (EP)

Big O's new EP, "Blindfolded," is a cinematic hip-hop project with San Diego rapper Benny Canales about life without clear direction. The project features five songs and instrumentals that explore themes of memory, loneliness, struggle, healing, and, eventually, freedom through a warm, soulful, cinematic lens.

"Good Times" opens in a real space, celebrating life, family, gratitude, and resilience. The "Day Room" becomes a place of inward turning, contemplation, recovery, confinement, and transition, while "Lonely" explores the space that can open up when change in our lives requires us to leave old ways behind. "Heat is On" ratchets up the emotional tension, emphasizes conflict, and the decision to take the bull by the horns.

"No Chains" is the freedom from past and personal burdens while looking forward with hope. Five instrumentals back the release, reimagining each song without vocals. That instrumental approach adds another layer to "Blindfolded," letting the project's vibe exist outside the vocal narratives. The songs range from celebration and reflection to pressure, isolation, and release. The result is a project on how to walk through uncertainty without losing hope.
