In their new release, "El Sueño de la Perdición," Alma Lunar, with the outstanding collaboration of Gabriel Calarco, provides a dense, haunted ride that smudges the lines between music, visual art, and reflection existence. It's a slip inside the haunted corridors of the psyche.
Central to this gothic electronic rock/metal number is a sad tension, a tug-of-war between being and unraveling. Esteban Soria's sorrowful vocals glide like hushed confessions across Calarco's spectral synthscapes and below thick, resonant instrumentation lines. The sound is expansive and claustrophobic as if it had been recorded on the edge of a void, and that's precisely the point.
The video here, directed and acted by Soria, takes the ordinary and makes it strange. Domestic environments are rendered as dream-like prisons, shadowed with purpose and framed to suggest emotional containment. There's a hypnotic tug to the visual storytelling, shadows seep, time stretches, and reality dissolves. Each frame is a snapshot from a lucid nightmare.
With lyrics that evoke vast plains, disembodied voices, and subconscious murmuring, the song is a guided descent into the unknown. "El Sueño de la Perdición" is here to instigate, unravel, and invite you to stare beauty in the face and be lost. Alma Lunar and Gabriel Calarco have created work that resonates.
