Mike Donello blazes a new path with "Point of No Return"

Austin musician Mike Donello has released his newest single, "Point of No Return." The track signifies the artist's style and depicts his musical evolution in real-time. Best known as an experienced live performer and frontman of the band The New Essentials, Donello unleashes his live style in the studio for this release. 

"Point of No Return" turns up the dial with infectious guitars, a stronger rock tilt, and atmospheric textures that lend the song an emotional trajectory from beginning to end. The backstory of this release is what makes it extra special. Instead of being a fully-written song, "Point of No Return" began with chords and a sketch of a melody Dolello introduced to the tape rolling in Studio 601 in Austin, TX, the exact location used for his first EP in 2020. 

The studio emerged as a playground where lyrics, melodies, and arrangements could develop naturally. That spontaneity is apparent in the music and helps to give the track a raw, unfiltered edge while retaining a sense of openness and strength.
