TiLT 360 resurfaces with a raw emotional single "Blindspot"

Emerging over a decade out of the spotlight, TiLT 360 has returned with "Blindspot," a scorching, visceral track proving the blaze does not always go out. Rising from the ashes of Youngstown, Ohio, yet again, the sound of the alternative metal/grunge rock force combines a storm of sound and soul that is as personal as it is punishing harmonically.

Blindspot's frontman Billy Smaltz's voice is rough and battle-scarred, a physical testament to fights fought and won. You hear the toll and the triumph of his struggle with addiction on every note. There's no pretense here, merely a stripped-down honesty that cuts deep and lingers long.

Behind him, his rhythm section leads. Heather Jurina's drumming is a thunderous heartbeat, primal and pinpoint, and Drew Salzano's bass throbs like an open wound encased in groove. Together, they create something unrelenting yet nuanced.

And then there is Jason Miller on guitar, a force of nature himself. The rhythm of the songs almost replicates the rhythm of tectonic plates shifting. It's heavy but also intentional, clunky riffing that also brings to mind Helmet and early Deftones, but only TiLT 360 can do it. Miller's introduction to the roster in 2005 may have been quiet initially, but if "Blindspot" is anything to go by, the end result was nothing short of transformative.

"Blindspot" sounds like the sort of song lived before it was written, raw and fierce and not ashamed to display a few wounds. They come back with precise clarity, and "Blindspot" is the warning that there is a bigger fire behind this smoke.
