In a historic moment for the reality TV space, Survivor alums Katurah Topps and Sabiyah Broderick have made their romantic relationship public and are now the first Black queer female couple to emerge from the series. The reality stars, who faced off on Survivor season 45 in 2023, announced their dating in an Instagram post on June 22.
The announcement has a personal and emotional message reflecting the two women's strong bond. They look back on their Survivor experience, reminiscing about the tough times, such as being unable to make fire literally and metaphorically. "On Survivor, we both struggled with fire. I couldn't make it and she went a week without it," their post said. But as they noted, the fire between them has never been hotter than it is now, and they add, "But what we're built together? That's a fire that finally lit itself."

Katurah and Sabiyah's heartfelt post was shared along with a gushing video montage of the lovebirds, which included some of the pair getting to know each other. It wasn't just a romantic reveal but a tribute to the strength of their bond, not as Survivor cast members but as co-dreamers and partners. The post also not-so-subtly announced them as "Survivors FIRST Black Queer Woman couple," a significant moment in depicting L.G.B.T.Q.+ love on the show.
The couple continued to show off their lighthearted bond in a video on Instagram lip-synching to Kesha's "Your Love Is My Drug." With the tagline "Showmance you deserved?" they reminded us that while the game might be done, there's no denying the chemistry between them. "The game's over, but the chemistry? Still in play," they wrote, teasing a potential Survivor-style romance that might have been.
Theirs is a tale of love, truth, and transcending the boundaries between us. Katurah Topps and Sabiyah Broderick are more than survivors in the game. They are survivors of life, clearing the way for true love to find its place even during the most difficult times. While they continue to reinvent what it means to be cutthroat competitors while remaining devoted partners, their story is a poignant example of the power of living genuinely and unapologetically.
