In their most raw and explosive form, The Red Lite District returns with "Brute," a single off their upcoming EP "Life Won't Wait." Out via Sodeh Records, this scorching new single isn't a call to arms.
"Brute" is one of the fastest and loudest punk anthems in the band's arsenal, and it does not apologize. Based on the harrowing tale of a Polish poet murdered during World War II, the song condenses outrage and resistance into two and a half minutes of pure revolt.
This release also indicates a new era for the band in the shape of drummer Vitali Siliuk, who adds a shot of new life to proceedings. His thundering rhythms keep the tempo unrelenting and electric, adding another punch to the track that suits the band's grunge-punk origins well.
A track from "Life Won't Wait," "Brute" belies everything within a six-track EP bound to be equally unyielding and on fire. There's grittiness in the vocals, urgency in the guitars, and a pulsing, political heart underneath everything that beats purposefully. It is punk, as it was always supposed to be loud, brave, and urgent.
For those who enjoy honest, hard-hitting music that does not shy away from history or honesty, "Brute" is more than a song. This is a statement and one that shows that The Red Lite District isn't going to ease up just yet.
