Jen Affleck Delivers Third Baby After Nail Salon Labor Surprise

Like something out of reality TV, Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Jen Affleck made for a major topic of discussion when she gave birth to her third child after going into labor unexpectedly during a trip to the nail salon. Reality star and influencer Kim Kardashian and her friend, whether you like it or not, welcomed Penelope Affleck on July 2. She announced the news herself via Instagram, and the world has been swooning ever since.

And the new mom, already a mum to three-year-old Nora and almost two-year-old Lucas, shared an adorable snap of herself, her husband Zac Affleck, and their baby daughter. "Baby Penelope is here," she captioned the snapshots of the cute family of four. "She is perfect." The journey to Penelope's arrival was nothing if not dramatic. On June 26, Jen shared a TikTok detailing the run-up to her going into labor, which unexpectedly began with a quiet pedicure, which in turn rapidly led to contractions during a manicure.

The clip featured her doing squats, listening to her baby's heartbeat monitored, and getting her cervix checked, right there, on the nail salon floor. The video, titled "POV: You start having contractions at your nail appointment," quickly garnered thousands of views and sparked a flood of well-wishes. Jen shared the emotional, and even physical, strength it took to give birth to Penelope unmedicated when she took to Instagram. "Going unmedicated was truly the most painful but empowering experience of my life," she wrote. "I could not have done it without Zac and my supportive doula! I'm so grateful and so happy that Penny is earth side now."

Although the baby's gender was a secret during her pregnancy, Jen wasn't completely blindsided. In February, she told People that she had a strong feeling her third child would be a girl. "I have a strong feeling it's a girl, and I've dreamed about this little girl for a while now, and I truly believe she's the one I'm carrying," she said at the time.
