Karen Huger Walks Free After Staying Six Months In Prison For DUI

Karen Huger, the Grande Dame herself from The Real Housewives of Potomac, is totally out of jail, after serving only half of her one-year sentence. The 62-year-old reality star was released from the Montgomery County Detention Center on September 2, six months ahead of schedule, according to Montgomery County Detention Center on a 2024 DUI conviction.

A Maryland judge ordered Huger to serve one year in jail while her other seven months were suspended after she was found guilty on charges related to her March 2024 DUI arrest and car crash near Bethesda, Maryland, back in February. The case reverberated across the Bravo community, especially since it was Huger's third DUI-related arrest. Although the charges she faced were serious, her team of lawyers successfully negotiated her release, albeit with several conditions attached. Huger is to be on probation for 5 years, and is forbidden from driving for the next year, court officials said.

But as she makes her grand return to the spotlight, her freedom now exists in a small and tight legal box that could affect not only her own life but also what she brings to RHOP. Huger's castmates took to Twitter to react to the first days that she spent in prison. Never one to mince words, Gizelle Bryant said she was "shook" when she heard that Karen was heading to jail, cracked a couple of jokes about not having access to her wigs, and also expressed genuine concern for her well-being. Her release is also expected to cause a lot of buzz among the Potomac ladies. Followers of the show are waiting to find out how the drama will unfold in the new season.

Huger's early exit leaves everyone wondering just how she will be portrayed in the public eye. Her freedom once again won't be drama-free, and it will make the never-ending Real Housewives of Potomac saga even more explosive. For now, Karen Huger is staying out of jail, but with probation hanging over her and a temporary driving ban in place, her next chapter looks set to bring more trials and tribulations, as well as fresh headlines.
